Those who enjoy scrapbooking
often like to tackle other craft projects. Creative crafters don’t always
look for craft instructions, or step-by-step directions on how to complete a
craft project.
Here are a few craft projects, which span the last 45 years. Some are old
favorites. We’ve listed other craft ideas on the site, so just click the
links below to see some more craft ideas.

In the 1970’s the shadow box became a popular craft project. Crafters often
made the boxes from wooded crates. This shadow box was made for me in 1979,
when we were expecting our first child. The items in the box have
sentimental meaning for my husband and me.
Right: Although this box turned out a little rough, the concept is solid.
Transform a cardboard box into a treasure box or storage box, by covering
the exterior of the box with pictures and embellishments, using decoupage.
We attached the removable lid to the box to create a flip lid, before
embellishing. Strategically cut the box lid and securing with heavy tape to
make an attached lid.
Left: Stuff fabric pouches
with dried flowers and herbs to make fragrant potpourri sachets. Embellish
the pouches with embroidery or glue on ornaments.
Right: Turn a glass-canning jar into a pincushion, with room for storage. I
imagine you can figure out the how-to by looking at the picture.
Left: I believe my sister
made the kitty pillow, or perhaps she picked it up at a craft fair. Such a
simple project - yet adorable results.
Right: I’ve been making collages for over 40 years. When I was a teenager, I
made one for my mother. I cut out pictures reminding me of her from
magazines. I imagine if strangers looked at that long-ago collage they would
wonder why it had such an odd collection of images. The collage posted
here, I made this last year.
Left: Instead of buying
decorative hair combs, make your own by recycling old costume jewelry and
silk flowers. The trick is gluing the object to the comb.
Right: I went a little crazy with a glue gun, an old straw hat, silk flowers
and broken costume jewelry.
Left: This little bluebird
doll was made about 45 years ago. This was a craft project of my Bluebird
troop. Bluebirds are the younger members of Campfire Girls, similar to
Brownies in Girl Scouts.
Right: We purchased this homemade Raggedy Ann Doll in the early 1970’s at a
craft fair.
